Eichholtz
Mirror Pierpont
The Met x Eichholtz introduces the Pierpont Mirror, a hand-carved piece inspired by the ornateness of Rococo decor.
Hand-carved from wood and gilded in antique gold leaf, this oval mirror captures the elegance of 18th-century French decorative arts. A sculptural knot detail at the top adds a beautifully considered finish. Hang in an entryway, above a console, or as a bedroom focal point for a piece that is as striking as it is timeless.
INSPIRATION
The Pierpont Mirror was inspired by a knot of ribbon, an example of 18th-century French gilt woodwork in The Met collection. The looping form, rippling texture, and flowing tails are characteristic of Rococo decoration—a style that favored movement, elegance, and playful naturalistic ornament.
