The Istan Lake Villa Eichholtz by IdHouse

A Stunning Istán Lake Architectural Project

A Sanctuary Above the Blue. The Istan Lake Villa

Perched dramatically on the mountain slopes of Marbella, the Istan Lake Villa residence is a masterclass in organic integration and architectural ingenuity. Overlooking the serene expanse of the Istán Lake, the home balances the raw power of its terrain with the refined tranquility of modern Mediterranean design, perfectly blending with the natural beauty of Costa del Sol.

The Vision: Elevating the Mountainside

This project focused on maximizing the villa's footprint without compromising its structural harmony with the mountain, creating a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape and hiking trails.

  • The Basement Expansion: Turning a "challenging" subterranean space into a primary living zone, we’ve cleverly reconfigured the unbuilt sections of the basement. By utilizing existing basement and light wells, we’ve carved out additional guest bedrooms that feel airy, private, and seamlessly connected to the rest of the home within this exclusive residential complex.

  • The Living Experience: The heart of the home features expansive wooden flooring, bringing warmth and a tactile, grounded feel to the living areas that contrasts beautifully with the rugged landscape outside, inspired by the elegance found along Marbella’s Golden Mile.

Refined Minimalism: The Bathrooms

Every bathroom in the villa has undergone a complete transformation. Eschewing traditional tiling for a seamless, avant-garde aesthetic, we utilized white microcement for a "total look" finish. The microcement creates a waterproof, grout-free environment that feels like a sculpted monolith; the reflective quality of the white finish bounces natural light, creating a bright, sterile yet inviting sanctuary for relaxation, complementing the timeless elegance of the designer finishes found throughout the home.

Organic Fluidity: The Pool & Outdoors

The outdoor space is dominated by an organically shaped pool, designed to mimic the natural curves of the Istán shoreline below. Rather than rigid geometric lines, the pool follows the "flow" of the mountain slope, making it appear as a natural catch-basin for the horizon, perfectly integrated with the outdoor furniture and decorative accessories chosen for luxury and functionality.

"This villa isn't just built on the mountain; it's a part of it. By rethinking the basement and embracing the curves of the land, we've created a family home that breathes with the lake and the sky, redefining modern luxury living near Puerto Banús and Marbella."
